Historia / Företagsinformation

Since 1976 Flexi Narrow Aisle is one of the world’s pioneers of very narrow aisle (VNA) warehouse truck design and development. Today our Flexi Digital range is distributed worldwide through a fully supported distributor network from the company’s manufacturing plants through hubs in the UK (Europe), USA (Americas), Taiwan (East Asia) and in over 65 countries worldwide.

Since Narrow Aisle pioneered the Flexi articulated warehouse truck concept in 1990, it has gone on to become the most popular type of truck on the market. The front-wheel-drive articulated concept we developed has become the global standard, our product has provided many benefits for warehouse customers.

Over 10,000 Flexi units have been built and shipped throughout the world, with many intralogistics customers in North America, Asia and Europe recognising the space-saving benefits. The exceptional cost savings that can be achieved are now recognised globally.

Over recent years, the Flexi Truck range has been developed significantly and can now lift loads weighing over 2.5 tonnes and lift to heights of over 14 metres with six distinctive model types available.

Although Flexi Narrow Aisle’s customers are involved in the storage and handling of many different products – from FMCG, foodstuffs and beverages to automotive – they all share at least one common aim: the need to maximize efficiency within their warehousing operation by increasing throughput and making the most of all the space that is available.

The Flexi VNA solution provides a space-efficient storage solution by eliminating dead aisle space required by traditional counterbalance forklifts, masts, reach trucks or guided Man Up VNA trucks. Depending on the building, the Flexi trucks can increase usable storage space between 25% and 50%, and by eliminating double handling make material handling operations significantly more efficient, reducing the cost per pallet stored and truck numbers and operators. Flexi trucks can work in aisles just 1.6M (ISO 1m) or 2.0M (EURO 1.2m) deep and transfer aisles of less than 3 metres, enabling warehouse layouts to be substantially improved.

The Flexi articulated truck is equally at home working outside the warehouse pallet racks in loading dock areas. It is able to operate a complete ‘road to rack’ function, eliminating time-consuming double pallet handling, and the cost of a separate counterbalance truck outside or into the back of a semi-trailer, enabling Flexi Digital to cut overall handling costs by up to 50%.

Hyra & Rental

Hyra & Rental

Flexi Narrow Aisle has over 300 trucks in its UK short term rental (STR) fleet
The UK-based manufacturer of the Flexi range of articulated reach trucks has over 300 Flexi trucks available at short notice to support peak periods and implementation projects.

Due to consistent investment, the average age of the trucks in Flexi’s short-term hire fleet is low, providing modern, safe and productive rental equipment at short notice to support seasonal peaks and increased business levels being seen across the logistics sector.

Our short term Flexi trucks can be hired for any period between one week to 12 months and beyond, they include full maintenance and service support in the weekly rental cost. Longer-term contracts are available at a lower weekly cost per unit depending on the rental period.

There is a growing trend towards the use of Flexi truck technology across many industry sectors and short-term rental is increasingly seen as an attractive way of quickly acquiring additional warehouse capacity by more and more companies.

Short term rental appeals to companies for various reasons but operational and budgetary flexibility are perhaps the biggest drivers. Companies can add short term rental trucks to their fleet to cover busy periods while finance directors can find short term contracts useful as the trucks commitment does not always need to appear in the user company’s balance sheet.

The full range of Flexi Digital articulated reach trucks – including the ultra-compact Flexi 15 and high lift Flexi Max 25 versions are now also available on short term contracts. All standard Flexi products are offered for next day dispatch and installation anywhere in the UK and Europe and are supplied and maintained through the company's national service and support network.

The unique Flexi chassis design means all components are both fully protected and easy to access. Only three covers are removed to access all serviceable components. Every Flexi Digital is supplied with easy to read truck diagnostics display and safety information including battery discharge indicator (BDI).

These systems monitor all key components to ensure ‘downtime’ is minimised. The Flexi digital technology controls the truck systems and records data allowing your operator to easily see any diagnostic information. For ease of service, there are no components under the traction battery, which means no possibility of acid damage to key components, and the battery need not be removed for regular maintenance.

The changing of lead-acid batteries for multi-shift usage is easy and safe with the ‘cassette’ style steel tank with fork pockets for removal and change over.

New Halo Bar is a saintly addition to Flexi warehouse trucks

The Halo Bar is an innovative new accessory option developed by Narrow Aisle Ltd for use with all models in the extensive Flexi Truck range of articulated lift truck-based intralogistics very narrow aisle (VNA) storage solutions.

Developed as a mounting for radio data terminals (RDTs), hands-free order-picking screens, label printers etc, the Halo Bar is quickly and easily fitted to a Flexi Truck’s chassis.

Its sturdy ‘U’ shaped design sits to the fore of the Flexi’s steering column and at its highest point the top of the Halo Bar’s arc curves below the steering wheel to ensure unobstructed operator forward vision - even when several RDT screens or printers are fitted.

In addition to its role as a computer mounting accessory, the Halo Bar allows stepping into and down from the Flexi’s cab even easier for operators. Operators simply grip the bar’s strong 40mm diameter steel tube with one hand when entering and exiting the Flexi during stock picking operations. This ‘single handed’ entry and exit functionality is both comfortable and safe and, in pre-launch trials, proved extremely popular with operators.

The Halo Bar’s dual functionality makes Flexi models highly suited to modern storage facilities that use screen-based pick lists and fulfillment centres where a high degree of picking and order assembly work takes place alongside full pallet movements.

John Maguire, Narrow Aisle’s managing director, comments: “The Halo Bar is a simple design but we believe that it represents a valuable and ergonomically advanced alternative to, for example, attaching in-cab computer terminals to a truck’s overhead guard which can obstruct the operator’s forward visibility when stacking loads.”

He continues: “It is becoming quite common to see trucks in operation at some bigger sites with several truck-mounted, hands-free data terminals. The Halo Bar is designed to allow numerous devices to be positioned securely in the optimum viewing position without obstructing the operator’s forward or upward visibility.

“Also, the Halo Bar’s role as a convenient grip helps reduce the physical effort involved in getting on and off of the truck. With the range of operations undertaken within a modern warehouse continuing to grow significantly due to the rise of e-commerce, materials handling equipment is expected to carry out multiple tasks. So, at sites where a Flexi Truck operator is required to take on order picking and order assembly in addition to picking and putting away full pallet loads, the Halo Bar is particularly beneficial.”
